Third Grade Collograph Quotes
Third graders made collograph printed quotes. This is one of my favorite projects and one of the few I'll do each year. Each student picks a quote that speaks to them from a list I give them, Some kids choose to make up their own quotes as well. We design the quote using bubble or block letters in our sketchbooks. I give each student a sheet of craft foam and they cut out the letters in their quote. The tricky part comes when organizing their composition, because when you print everything is backwards. We use a mirror to help us organize our letters on a piece of cardboard, starting from the right corner and going right to left. I'm lucky to have 6th grade 'helpers' in my room during my third grade classes. We made sure to have a helper or teacher check our letters before we glued them down. The last step is to ink up our cardboard printing plate and print!
