Pre-K Body Tracings
These self portraits were a huge hit in my pre-k classes. It's always so much fun to work BIG! I traced each kid on the plastic side of a piece of two sided drop cloth with a sharpie. Then, I gave each kid a sharpie and we added in details like eyes, eyelashes, smiles and teeth.
Next we turned over the drop cloth to the fabric absorbent side. We used liquid watercolors and droppers to color our portraits.
I think the kids almost had a better time mixing up the colors and making new ones than they did painting their portraits! So many oohs and ahh's!
I had my 6th grade helpers cut them out and we hung them in the windows of the pre-K classrooms. The way the light shines through them is especially pretty. The kids were very excited that they could see themselves in the windows from the street as they walk to school.
The inspiration for these body tracings comes from the very talented Meri Cherry. You can find her blog post on this process here.
